It’s National Avocado Day! Five Ways To Use Avocados | The Rockland County Moms

Avocados are healthy and delicious! If you can find a perfectly ripe one, here are my five favorite ways to use simple mashed avocado.

Start with one mashed avocado with a good pinch of salt, and turn it into one of these tasty treats. 

 🥑 Guacamole
No one can dispute guacamole as the ultimate dip. Mix the simple mashed avocado with the juice of half of a lime, finely chopped jalapeno and  leaves of cilantro. You can even get fancy and add some additional mix-ins: roasted corn, pomegranate seeds or queso fresco.

 

🥑 Avocado Toast
Use that mashed avocado to top a piece of toast and sprinkle with cracked pepper and lemon juice. Enjoy just as it is, or add a friend egg for a delicious and healthy breakfast or lunch.

 

🥑 Burger or Sandwich Topper
Mix the avocado mash with two tablespoons of plain greek yogurt. Add in your favorite fresh herbs like dill, basil or parsley. Slather it on a roll or wrap and use it as a great way to add flavor to a grilled turkey burger or veggie wrap.

 

🥑 Salad Dressing
Add the avocado mash to a blender with the juice of one lime, a handful of fresh cilantro, 1/2 cup of water, two tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. Blend up and pour over your favorite lettuce for a simple salad to go with dinner any night of the week!

 

🥑 In your favorite baked treat
Next time you’re out of butter and want to make brownies, sub in avocados! The ratio is 1:1. Meaning, if the recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, add in one cup of mashed avocado.
